There was almost no light inside the room. But the blind old man, who was sitting on the mattress, didn‘t need light. He never had to face up any trouble, as the restrictions imposed by his condition were not a limit. His eyes were looking inside, into the deepness of a place which others hardly could reach, as they were bound by pictures they captured in the outer world. All the inhabitants of the small village considered him a reliable source of wisdom. And while he gave them advice, they assisted him with his everyday needs. Only the snakecharmer was afraid of the knowledge the blind man had, as he knew that the colour of snakes didn’t matter at all. One day, while the blind was sitting alone in the darkness of his room, listening to the sound of profoundness, the snakecharmer freed a bunch of snakes of different coloured skin into the open room of the old man. What exactly happened from that moment on, he never found out, because he thought it would be wiser to leave the village forever and to head towards the city.

Îmblânzitorul de șerpi

În cameră se vedea numai o rază de lumină. Însă bătrânul orb, care ședea pe saltea, nu avea nevoie de lumină. Fiindcă era orb, nu căzuse pradă niciodată vreunei greutăți. Ochii lui erau îndreptați spre interiorul sufletului său, un loc profund, care pentru alții, prinși în altă lume, era greu de pătruns. Toți locuitorii din sat îl considerau o sursă de înțelepciune și de încredere. În timp ce el le dădea sfaturi, locuitorii îl ajutau cu nevoile de zi cu zi. Îmblânzitorul de șerpi era singurul care se temea de cunoștințele bătrânului orb, pentru că acesta știa că nu contează culoarea unui șarpe. Într-o zi, în timp ce orbul ședea singur în camera întunecată, ascultând sunetul profund al sufletului său, îmblânzitorul de șerpi a dat drumul în camera celui din urmă unei mulțimi de șerpi de diferite culori. Însă nu a aflat niciodată ce s-a întâmplat mai departe, fiindcă s-a hotărât să părăsească satul pentru totdeauna și să se îndrepte spre oraș.
